A strong earthquake hit New Zealand towards the end of July 25. The tremors reached Auckland but no casualties or damage were reported yet. In California, a lesser 2.1 quake struck near Ocotillo Wells the previous day. Heavy aftershocks keep hitting Venezuela after the country’s latest strong quakes. A large number of people remain trapped under debris as rescue and medical teams labor continuously. PAHO says hospitals require immediate assistance to cope with additional crises.
