Vulnerable people eating out 'should avoid runny eggs' amid salmonella outbreak - London Evening Standard

Latest News About Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Undercooked Eggs Sparks Public Warning

Public health warnings advise pregnant women and kids under five to avoid undercooked eggs at restaurants because of salmonella. More people are falling ill, and salmonella cases are rising in several locations.

In one case, a Ramona woman filed a lawsuit against a local grocery store and an egg ranch after she contracted an illness from their food. A separate outbreak hit several states, where health officials tied salmonella and E. coli to raw alfalfa sprouts. That outbreak made 55 people ill, sending four to the hospital. Medical experts say diners should ask for fully cooked eggs and steer clear of raw sprouts entirely.
