Recent periods of high temperatures across Europe led to over 35,000 fatalities. Germany reported a record 15,800 heat-related fatalities during the summer season. Meanwhile, France connected a significant increase in drownings directly to the extreme heat conditions affecting the region.
Conditions remain severe in the United States as well. Severe heat and active wildfires spread across the country from Texas all the way to the West Coast.
