Lando Norris secured pole position for the Spanish Grand Prix with a lap called a masterpiece.
The full starting grid, once the penalties were factored in, has been published. It shows Norris beginning at a handicap despite being the pole-setter. The grid changes mean he will start behind rivals he beat in qualifying.
McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri suffered a terrible qualifying session. He conceded his lap was crap. Piastri is set for more misery in Spain after his qualifying struggles. He will need to overtake cars in the race from a poor starting position.
The final grid adds extra tension for McLaren. Norris will have to climb back quickly to avoid losing more ground. Piastri must salvage what he can. McLaren will want a strong response.
