The San Diego Padres reinstated pitcher Walker Buehler off the paternity list ahead of NLDS Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers, bringing him onto their active roster. His return takes up a roster slot created by a separate paternity list move.

Closer Mason Miller was placed on the paternity list before the game, leaving San Diego without its top bullpen arm in an elimination matchup. Buehler steps into a Padres bullpen that now has to manage without Miller, who had been their primary late-game option heading into the series.
