CenterPoint Energy acknowledged that personal data of customers was exposed in a data breach. Class action lawsuits were filed after the breach. The company noted operations remain unaffected and that customers' personal information was obtained.

In a separate matter, the FBI informed Springfield officials that a school system attack amounted to a data breach that could have revealed Social Security numbers. Records of students and staff were compromised in the Springfield Public Schools incident, the FBI said. The FBI gave the warning to local officials.
