Action got under way early at Headingley. Pakistan took on England in the first Test match. Harry Brook removed Pakistani batter Imam-ul-Haq. He fell. That catch left Imam the sixth player from Pakistan to surpass 700 runs in one Test match. Imam scored 714 runs in the first innings for England's second innings. Still, the team was dismissed in that first innings.
Further action took place too. Jonathan Bairstow struck a century. He was England's youngest Test captain ever. That knock moved him past 1,000 Test runs. Babar Azam was dismissed before Pakistan made it to 100 runs. He was unable to prevent them losing the match.
